Metria

A cross-platform fitness experience for home workouts and guidance. The goal was faster starts, consistent habits, and visible progress. I led end-to-end UX and UI, built a clean design system, responsive layouts for desktop and mobile, and motivation loops like streaks and weekly targets.

UX/UI Design

Project Overview

Industry: Health & Fitness SaaS
Timeline: 3 months
My Role: UX/UI Designer

Challenge

Create the platform from zero, without an existing structure or content model. We needed a simple entry into training, a trusted coach presence, and habit-forming mechanics without clutter. The site had to be responsive, fast, and SEO friendly for organic discovery.

Results

Post-launch indicators from an early cohort and baseline analytics

Note: metrics reflect an on-demand video platform with light coaching and will evolve with scale and content volume.

Process

Research and analysis
Interviews with 6 target users and a quick competitor review of Nike Training Club, FitOn, Alo Moves, and Apple Fitness Plus. Key insights: short 10 to 20 minute sessions, visible progress, and friendly accountability work best.

Information architecture
Navigation is anchored in a bottom tab bar: Home, Calendar, Courses, Favorite, Account.

  • Home delivers quick resume, today’s pick, and a progress snapshot.

  • Calendar manages upcoming sessions, reminders, and streaks.

  • Courses is the full catalog with filters, levels, and coach pages.

  • Favorite stores saved classes and programs.

  • Account contains profile, goals, and subscription.

Wireframing and prototyping
Low fidelity flows to clickable Figma prototypes on desktop and mobile. Empty states, microcopy, and success feedback. Iterations after 5 usability sessions.

Visual design and design system
Dark theme with energetic accents, accessible contrast, and scalable components. Tokens for color and type. Responsive grid for desktop, tablet, and mobile.

Key solutions

  • Programs and quick start: curated 4 to 6 week plans with level tags and gear icons. One tap to start, progress auto saved.

  • Class player: clean video, countdown, next up cue, and coach tips. Autoplay and resume, picture in picture on desktop.

  • Motivation: MovePoints, CalmPoints, and Streaks with weekly targets and lightweight badges.

  • Coaches: profiles with focus areas and top classes, plus a safe chat preview and scheduled nudges.

  • Progress: weekly minutes, completed classes, streak days, and simple insights. Optional Monday email summary.

Platform scope

Desktop: discovery, plan comparison, catalog browsing, richer progress analytics.
Mobile: quick start, swipeable class list, reminders, and micro interactions that support daily use.

Stack

Next steps and A/B testing

Add smarter recommendations by level and session length and integrate Apple Health and Google Fit logging. Test paywall timing and trial length, and compare hero CTAs Start free trial vs Start 10 min workout to increase first class starts.
